Mabel Reviews

The first thing we encountered on opening the front door was a strong smell of cigarette smoke. This pervaded the hall, the dining room, the living room and the lobby at the rear. Dining room would have been unusable so we went out for dinner. We left all the doors and windows open whenever we could but this made little difference. A complaint to Sykes was not acted upon. Apart from that the flat is wellappointed and comfortable.
Lovely little flat in the center of Whitstable. 5 min walk from shops, 7 mins to Beach. Well equipt, clean and tidy. The only issue is a notable lack of street parking. But this is a nice accomidation that was good value!!!
Nice ground floor Flat which is a Credit to the Owner and Great Location. Had a lovely time for our first visit to whitstable. Would definitely recommend a stay at Mable.
The house is really well equipped and ideally situated for town and beach. The booking process went really smoothly and the joining instructions were clear and accurate. I had a chance to view Sally upstairs as well. A different layout but also very nice. My wife and I would definitely stay in either of these two again.
Very comfortable stay overall. A couple of areas could be improved. First, the freezer was unusable due to a heavy buildup of ice and definitely needs defrosting. Second, since a coffee pod machine is provided, it would be appreciated if there were enough pods for two people to enjoy one coffee each per day for the duration of the stay.
More could be made of the garden area for guests, adjacent road is very noisy
Deborah
Mabel was a great place to stay, very convenient for quick access the main road and lots of little alleyways which are great for walking to the harbour and other areas. The downside is that we had no access to street parking and had to park away from the accommodation. The road is also very busy with cars and people alike who use it as a cut through. We would also recommend some lightweight bedding in the summer months as the bedding was very heavy and the weather was very hot during our stay.
Most aspects of this property were adequate. One feature managed to exceed our expectations the coffee machine was unexpected and very welcome. The location was great and we loved the town. The enclosed garden had the potential to be lovely but, sadly, it was unusable. The grass obviously hadn't been cut in a very long time. Such a shame.
Mabel is a beautiful apartment, it was lovely and clean, comfy and had all I needed. Lovely touches for dogs too! The garden could do with a mow desperately as even the dogs found it too long to navigate. The garden would be beautiful if the grass was shorter. The whole stay was great and I definitely would love to return. Thankyou for the information in the guest book and I loved how close it was to the town and beach. I had a great time.
Mabel really was a lovely apartment the pictures don't do it justice it is spacious and the decor and attention to detail was so nice and a breath of fresh air. To start your break staying somewhere so very nice and so close to all that Whitstable and the surrounding areas offer made our stay so good.
Mabel is an extremely well equipped apartment that is clearly loved and well maintained by the owners. It was perfect for our short stay, a real home from home with the added advantage of being dog friendly. Our Dachshund, who is also called Mabel, settled in very quickly. Parking nearby is a bit hit and miss, but being Whitstable, to be expected. We highly recommend Mabel for a stay in Whitstable.
Lovely, clean and comfortable place. Easy to find, all instructions given were clear and concise and most importantly, lovely garden for the dogs. Only slight issue was lack of washing machine but we were well aware that there was not one due to excellent description of property facilities. Understandably lack of space may mean there cannot be a washing machine but that may be the only impediment to booking a longer ie. more than a week stay. Very minor issue was lack of live TV but managed to get channel 4 so not a big deal and also personal preference as plenty of other TV to watch. Overall, an absolute gem of a property and our only regret was to forget to write in the guest book to memorialise our praise in our own handwriting for posterity! Many thanks, Jan and family
Lovely cottage and a lovely place, so welcoming and friendly. Only down side was parking near the property is a lottery but always found a place.
Lovely little apartment in a very good location, extremely clean and well presented, just a short walk to the town and sea front, garden was great for the dog. Parking can be a little interesting but plenty of car parks in the area. Ideal location for a short break
Maggie
Comfortable, clean and well equipped. Very enjoyable stay. Great location for getting around Whitstable and to the beach on foot. Found Whitstable very dog friendly and would definitely book again.
One of the best, comfortable properties we have stayed in. The parking is a problem but we booked a space through Just Park which was a short walk away. The listing gives the impression there is a freezer but it is just the freezer compartment in the fridge. Also it lists a wine cooler and there isn't one. The TV was a challenge as it was a very smart device but we just asked Alexa and she helped find what we wanted. We would definitely book again.
The apartment was lovely and clean and very comfortable, loved how it was presented and very modern. Also loved the little doggie touches. We didnt have an issue with parking because mainly stayed in the area but if you did have any problems the train station car park is a 5 minute walk and very cheap for a week.
Teresa
The house was nice and clean. As the weather was very hot the bedroom was very hot. A fan provided would be nice. An airer provided would of helped to dry towels etc outside. The grass would of been nice cut and garden maintained. Parking was difficult. A permit would of helped so much. We would of payed extra for that.
Excellent apartment! We could have moved in permanently! We loved the little doggy touches, bowls the treats and the dog bed which our sausage dogs liked and also a spare lead. We've stayed in other holiday accommodation where there has been lots of do's and don'ts this wasn't like that it was just relaxing and welcoming, also beautiful decor.
Debbie
Lovely place with all you need for a break contrary to reviews we found the bed to be very comfy
Elizabeth
We think it would benifit to have a parking permit there are a couple of car ... We think it would benifit to have a parking permit there are a couple of car parks on the road but permit only otherwise the road is absolutely packed the station car park that you advertise is far too far away to unload just saying
Brenda
Lovely flat well decorated cosy and very clean. A little too far for us t 84 to walk to seafront but enjoyed the garden but needs lighter more comfortable garden furniture overall very relaxing holiday .
Jackie
The flat was very nice and clean. The bed was comfortable, it has a lovely garden to sit out in and a short walk from shops cafes and restaurants. The only down side for us was the upstairs flat had quite a big dog that barked a lot so was very noisy but overall we enjoyed our stay very much. But maybe a good idea to only have small dogs staying
The place had everything we needed and was very and comfortable the bed was so ... The place had everything we needed and was very and comfortable the bed was so good we did not want to get out of it sorry we did not leave anything in the visitors book we never had a pen and could not find one
Louise
We loved our stay at Mable, the property was extremely clean and decorated very well, the established garden was also lovely and I found the bed to be so comfortable. The location was great only minutes away from the shops and a short walk to the beach.
The apartment was really lovely very clean and practical. I think that it would be good to have a broom available so I could have swept the floors before leaving. Also it was a shame the garden was very overgrown.
What a gem! A beautiful place to stay and in an excellent location for the town and local amenities. The property had everything we needed, was beautifully furnished and was warm and comfortable. We have had a wonderful few days in Whitstable and will definitely return, hopefully to Mabel! Certainly recommend this property!
Caroline
Really lovely apartment, warm and cosy. Felt very at home, very dog friendly too. Would love to return. Only negative for me is the parking but that cant be helped but for that reason I would never return at peak times.
